Many foods today undergo processing that can negatively or positively influence their nutrient density. Many clever marketing strategies involve getting a product approved as a “real food” instead of a supplement in order to avoid the double standard that supplements are faced with.Jamie Carruthersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110892371762650434.post-27998265747183306762011-11-28T07:50:15.413-08:002011-11-28T07:50:15.413-08:00Jamie,

Milk is considered real food not by myself only but pretty much every dictionary and/or organisation.
It would be good if you could expand a bit more on your argument as it sounds interesting.

I refer to the dictionary definition of food which states " Material, usually of plant or animal origin, that contains or consists of essential body nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals, and is ingested and assimilated by an organism to produce energy, stimulate growth, and maintain life".
The USDA indicates milk in the food pyramid (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/eb/MyPyramidFood.svg)

Some countries also have legal definitions of food and everywhere to my knowledge Milk is considered a food.

Can you expand more on your argument that milk is a supplement?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16914660371281562767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110892371762650434.post-56033412369602952022011-11-26T03:38:39.197-08:002011-11-26T03:38:39.197-08:00Regarding the use of supplements as opposed to &qu...Regarding the use of supplements as opposed to "real food" that really depends on your defintions.
